Help! Adobe Photoshop crashes when I open an image.

Photoshop may load images directly into your GPU’s memory.  If you’re using Photoshop on a system/workstation NOT sourced through us, you may want to try disabling use of your graphics processor in Photoshop.  To try this: Launch Photoshop Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance Disable “Use Graphics Processor“

Why is Photoshop showing a black screen (or locking up)?

Chances are this is related to the graphics adapter in your system.  Try this: Lauch Photoshop Go to the “Edit” menu Choose “Preferences”, then “Performance” Uncheck “Use Graphics Processor” After saving your preferences close Photoshop, then restart. I upgraded Photoshop, but ClearID is no longer available.
