How do I clear my system Event Log?

The Event Log is a diagnostic tool in Windows used to log information about various actions Windows has taken during a given session. The event log will store information about any errors that have occured or various drivers that have been loaded.

Over time, this event log can become full at which time you will receive a message saying “the event log is full”. It is safe to clear the event log and there is typically no reason to save it. To clear the event log, click on Start, then click Programs and select Administrative Tools. From there, select Event Viewer. In the Event Viewer, you will see a list of various “events” that have occured over time. To clear the event log, select “action” and click on “clear all events”. You do not need to save the event log before clearing. Do this for each log, including Application and Security.
