I can’t connect to my NAS with Windows 10! What gives?

Is SMBv1 enabled in your Windows 10 build?  Probably not, as Microsoft began disabling the deprecated and insecure protocol with Win10 b1709.  Actually, it gets installed with Windows, but then automatically disabled if not used within 15 days.  They were trying to be helpful, folks.

To Re-Enable SMBv1 Deprecated File Sharing Protocol:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on Programs.
  3. Click on Turn Windows features on or off link.
  4. Expand the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support option.
  5. Check the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client option.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Click the Restart Now button.

Then, immediately look into updating the firmware on your NAS to see if it supports modern & secure SMBv2 or newer protocols.  If so, update and then disable SMBv1 on your clients.
